PROMOTIONAL INFORMATION ON WATERPOWER

Waterpower is a solely Irish owned and based Company.

Its Managing Director Mr Dan Twomey is an Electrician with 40 years experience in various areas of Energy Production and Energy Reduction.

Dan Twomey in conjunction with Cork County Council tested and developed Spa Springs in Mallow in 1984 as part of one the first EU Energy scheme in Ireland.

The Purpose of this project was to reduce the running costs of Mallow Swimming pool by drilling into the aquifer and using the warm water to heat the nearby Municipal Pool. This was a great success and still operates successfully to this day.

Following this innovative project, Dan Twomey built his first Hydro Generating Station in 1985 in North Cork.

This project was for his Family property in Carrigeen, Banteer Co Cork.

This hydro station provides his Family Home and Farm with Electricity and is available for interested people to visit and see it in operation.

Since then Dan Twomey has built 25 Hydro stations in the 32 counties of Ireland and rebuilt/refurbished many other projects nationwide.

On an organisational basis, Dan Twomey formed Waterpower Engineering Ltd in 2003 (Details on waterpower.ie).

The Initial purpose for this company was to Generate Electricity at the largest station which is on the Northern Bank of  River Lee across from Cork County Hall.

This former Water pumping station was redeveloped to a Hydro Generating Station in partnership with Cork City Council. The main purpose of this project was to Generate and Supply Cork Corporations Energy Needs with Green Energy. This Project required the Grant of a Power Supply Licence from the Dept of Energy.

Waterpower has many client companies that trade Electricity to it which makes Waterpower unique in this business.

Since 2018 Waterpower is now also supplying and installing SOLAR PV and to date installed 11 commercial projects nationally.

Trading Electricity is complex from a Regulation and Planning point of View.

Waterpower has the in-house Capacity to Advise/Design and also Procure Planning Permission is required for any Project irrespective of Size or Complexity.

Waterpower can install PV Domestic projects, but current Legislation does not allow it to buy back from these Domestic Premises.

To Conclude: Waterpower is available to supply Electricity to commercial and domestic properties and advises on carbon reduction projects by on-site Electricity generation to properties such as Nursing Homes, Farming Enterprises, Coops, Housing Schemes etc.
